What do you Worship?

The comment to the story below quotes Bishop Sheen:  “We worship what we think about.”  If you think about money and your beach house all day then that is what you worship.  If you focus your thoughts on God then that is what you are going to worship and then he is going to take care of your needs.

Love Of Mammon Or Love Of God

August 31, 2015

The great question is; do we love money and things, or do we love God who gives us energy to work to earn money with and His world full of things He created for our sustenance and use?  Jesus says it; ‘You cannot serve God and mammon.’

It is like the story of “the Goose who laid the golden egg”.

The Goose That Laid the Golden Egg
an Aesop Fable
goose that laid the golden eggA man and his wife owned a very special goose.  Every day the goose would lay a golden egg, which made the couple very rich.
Just think said the man’s wife, ‘If we could have all the golden eggs that are inside the goose, we could be richer much faster’.  ‘You’re right’ said the husband, ‘We wouldn’t have to wait for the goose to lay her egg every day.’  So the couple killed the goose and cut her open, only to find that she was just like every other goose.  She had no golden eggs insider her at all, and they had no more golden eggs.

God is the goose, and every day He gives us the golden egg, ‘Give us today our daily bread.’

No man can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one, and love the other: or he will sustain the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. Therefore I say to you, be not solicitous for your life, what you shall eat, nor for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than the meat: and the body more than the raiment?

Behold the birds of the air, for they neither sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns: and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not you of much more value than they?  And which of you by taking thought, can add to his stature by one cubit?  And for raiment why are you solicitous? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they labour not, neither do they spin.  But I say to you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed as one of these.  And if the grass of the field, which is today, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, God doth so clothe: how much more you, O ye of little faith?

Be not solicitous therefore, saying, What shall we eat: or what shall we drink, or wherewith shall we be clothed?  For after all these things do the heathens seek. For your Father knoweth that you have need of all these things.  Seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God, and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you. Be not therefore solicitous for tomorrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof.  Matthew 6:24-34Keys to the Kingdom_LORENZO VENEZIANO

Many men work on Sunday for $.  They do not have time for God.  Many women work outside the homes for $ and do not have time for their children.

As Jesus says; ‘Seek therefore the kingdom of God and Justice,(be fair in all our dealings), and all these things, ($ and all material things), shall be added unto you’.

We are so blessed to be traditional Catholics and to know where our sustenance comes from.
